NGCP PLACES VISAYAS GRID ON RED ALERT

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines has placed the Visayas grid on red alert from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

In an advisory posted on Facebook early Wednesday night, the red alert status was raised in the Visayas due to the reduced output of MVIP.

This was caused by the tripping of GNPK 2 (138 MW) and SMCPC (135 MW).

"Manual load dropping or rotational power interruptions may be implemented to protect the integrity of the power system," the NGCP said.

"A red alert status is issued when power supply is insufficient to meet consumer demand and the transmission grid’s regulating requirement," it added.—NB, GMA Integrated News
